As I approach a birthday that ends in a 9, I decided to challenge myself as a way to continue to grow. I saw this pattern and loved how it all came together in the very center. The quilt is paper pieced and when I finished the top, I thought I was nearly done but it took me triple that time to quilt all the sections to my liking. A precious gem has cuts which make it shine and that's what I pictured as I quilted all the straight lines which point to the very center. I purposefully picked a colorful backing with the hope that the back would be as pretty as the front.
